Day 6- Psalm 13

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.

There have been a number of times when I've wondered where God was in the midst of my chaos - if he'd forgotten me, if I was being overlooked and rejected by him as by so many others. By accepting his invitation, we aren't guaranteed an easy life and the promises of his word are all we can hold on to at times ~

"But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me."

Occasionally, I've felt so overwhelmed by the storm around me that I've shouted, "Please, Lord, I can't handle anymore!" - there have also been times when I've truly been overwhelmed by his blessings and shouted, "Please, Lord, I can't handle anymore!". He desires to bless us so greatly, it is hard for us to understand. Think of how much you love someone and take it to infinity -- and beyond! How can we comprehend that at all?

In accepting God's gracious invitation, in saying 'Yes' to him, we open ourselves up to so much. There is greater intimacy (if we choose it!), greater freedom in and through worship, greater vulnerability as we are open and genuine with one another (and how blessed we are when we journey there!), greater release and surrender, and we know that more is required of us as we press forward. We can choose to just accept the one-way ticket to eternity, or we can receive life abundant - right here, right now. Frightening and exciting all at the same time!
